1965 Richter Artcraft Inc. GUITARIST aka ROBERT JOHNSON FLAMES 3D Picture

Description

1965 Richter Artcraft Inc. “Guitarist” AKA “Robert Johnson Flames” 3D Pop Art Picture. Richter Artcraft Inc. was sold in stores from the mid-1950s until the mid-1960s. Artcraft has recently gotten notice for its extreme kitsch factor. The “3D Picture” line was produced for just a moment in time. The pictures are made from thick layers of painted-resin mounted on thin wooden particle board. They have no “given” names and they were often not numbered. We added a picture of “Clown” which is the most popular of the 3D line. The theory is, this is a likeness of Robert Johnson playing his guitar in flames. Fact or Fiction … who knows? But the KITSCH FACTOR is off the charts. Robert Johnson (1911 – 1938) is recognized as a master of the blues and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Johnson has been called “the first ever rock star”. Legend is, Johnson sold his soul to the devil to achieve musical success. Johnson died mysteriously (27 years old) of “unknown causes” just shortly after starting to receive some notoriety. A true Rock history legend wrapped in a mystery. A RARE 60s Rock-Pop-Kitsch gem.
